ex) a sense of belonging = 소속감
ex) She packed her few belongings in a bag and left = 소지품

 

 

 

n. finding - findings

ex) finding of guilty = 인정 (법원 판결)
ex) The British medical magazine The Lancet reported the findings. (연구 결과)

 

 

 

n. earning - earnings

ex) earning gap = 소득
ex) an earnings-related pension = 소득액 (수입액)

 

 

 

n. saving - savings

ex) Buy three and make a saving of 55p = 절약
ex) He put all his savings into buying a boat.  = 저축한 돈

 

 

 

adj. surrounding  - n. surroundings

1. -ing 형태는 추상적 의미인 반면
2. -ings는 눈에 보이는 구체적 의미를 갖는다

 

추상명사에 -s를 붙여 복수로 만들 수는 없는 일 (셀 수 없으니까)
