어려운 문법에 꼭 등장하는 as

 

 

1. 분사구문에서의 as

 

 1) V-ing + as + S + do (대동사) [능동]

 ex) Living as I do in a remote village, I have few visitors
->  As I Live in a remote village, I have few visitors

 

 

 

2) p.p (형용사), + as + S + be  [수동]

ex) published, as it was, at such a time, his work attracted attention
-> As it was published at such a time, his work attracted attention

 

 

 

 

2. 양보절 도치 구문에서 as

 

 

though / although + S + V + 형용사, 명사, 부사 동사
-> 형용사, 명사, 부사 동사 + as + S + V
(단 셀 수 있는 명사일 때는 무관사 명사 즉 a/an이 안 와야 함)

 

 

ex) Pretty as the flower is, it has many thorns
-> though the flower is pretty, it has many thorns

 

 

ex) Woman as she is, she is strong
-> though she is a woman, she is strong

 

 

ex) Try as he might, he couldn't open the door.
-> though he might try, he couldn't open the door.

 

 

 

[summary]

 

 

1. 다른 전치사와는달리 as는 흔적을 남긴다.
2. 부끄러움이 많은 지 문장 앞으로는 안 간다
3. 그러나 오지랖도 넓어 though 대신 도치 구문에서 접속사 역할하지만 그래도 문장 속에 숨는다

-> 오지랖 넓고, 자기애 강하지만, 수줍은 as로 기억하자 !
